ISCD and IOF FRAX® Initiative:
"Interpretation and Use of FRAX® in Clinical Practice"
Bucharest, Romania, November 11th - 13th, 2010
Followed on November 14th 2010 (not open to the public) by
ISCD 2010 FRAX® Position Development Conference
As the assessment of skeletal health evolves, issues arise regarding differences in technologies, acquisition techniques, reference databases, reporting methods, terminology and methods of fracture prediction. To address these issues, the ISCD periodically holds Position Development Conferences (PDC), a process whereby an international panel of experts makes recommendations based upon its reviews of the scientific literature. Recommendations approved by the ISCD Board of Directors then become Official Positions of the ISCD.
I am honored to invite you to attend this modified version of the ISCD Position Development Conference (PDC) to be held in Bucharest, Romania on November 12th -13th, 2010, in full scientific partnership with the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF). The Conference will consist of scientific presentations and discussions/debates leading to the development of an educational document to assist healthcare providers in the clinical use of FRAX®.
Three task forces (FRAX® Clinical, FRAX® BMD and FRAX® International) have been formed (1) to address specific questions regarding FRAX®; (2) to conduct appropriate literature reviews; and (3) to develop preliminary statements for debate at the conference in front of an expert panel.
Clearly, the ISCD-IOF FRAX® Initiative and the ISCD 2010 FRAX® PDC are well-timed to address the many questions that are being raised by individuals from around the world seeking to integrate FRAX® into their clinical practice.
My co-chair, Prof. Cyrus Cooper, and I hope that you will join us at this exciting event, and that you will be able to actively participate in the FRAX® Initiative debate.
Yours truly,
Didier Hans, Ph.D., CCD, CDT
Chair of the ISCD PDC
Co-Chair of the ISCD and IOF FRAX® Initiative
Important: We have limited the event to a maximum of 300 of attendees to favor debate and exchanges. Therefore, registration will be made on first in first serve basis.
